RESIDENTS in Daresbury will be given a year’s worth of Amazon Prime membership, and those who are already members will receive 12 months on top of their subscription.

This comes after the electronic shop identified 10 villages whose residents use Amazon the most, to celebrate a decade of Prime in the UK.

These areas, including Daresbury, have been named ‘prime villages’ and their residents will be sent unique codes to unlock the free membership this week.

Customers in the chosen villages are already more likely to have a membership than the UK average, which is why an extra 12 months is being offered for free to pre-existing members.

Households within Daresbury could also be chosen at random to go on a trip to London and get exclusive tickets to a show at the O2 stadium.

Doug Gurr, UK country manager for the company, said: “We’re thrilled to be giving membership to these residents, who are some of our most loyal customers.

“For those that haven’t yet tried Prime we hope they will enjoy a chance to experience all the great benefits that come with it.”

Rural villages are being rewarded with this scheme because things that they buy might only be accessible to purchase online and it may be difficult to get them delivered.
