A NINE-year-old girl has received an award from North West Ambulance Service after her quick thinking saved her granddad’s life.

Brodie Roblin has been presented with the Junior Life Saver Award after 69-year-old Barry Roblin, who lives in Old Hall, suffered a heart attack.

After calling 999, it was left to Brodie to speak to the operator and follow instructions while waiting for paramedics.

Luckily Barry was rushed to hospital meaning no further damage was caused to his heart.

Mum Julie, 47 said: “We are all incredibly proud of Brodie who was extremely brave, kept it together and didn’t panic.

“My mum passed away in March so this was the first time that Brodie was being cared for just by her granddad.

“Especially after such a close bereavement she must have been petrified of losing him too, so for her to receive this award is brilliant."

Barry's darts team has raised £100 for Brodie, who aims to set up an annual competition at The Crossbar on Lovely Lane with the proceeds going to the ambulance service.
