CHILDREN's TV stars Dick and Dom will switch on Warrington's Christmas lights this year, and will be joined by the returning Justin Fletcher.

CBBC double Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood, better known as Dick and Dom, will compere the evening in the Old Market Place on Friday, November 10, to mark the 'official start of the Christmas period'.

Justin Fletcher, aka Mr Tumble, will make his return to Golden Square Shopping Centre - with the star of CBeebies shows including Something Special, Gigglebiz and Justin's House having previously switched the town's Christmas lights on in 2015.

Beginning at 6pm, comedy duo Dick and Dom will give an exclusive performance - rumoured to include pie throwing - during the hour-long event while stars of the Parr Hall's pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk will also be putting on a show.

Warrington Wolves players and Father Christmas himself will also be making guest appearances onstage on the night.

On the day of the big switch-on, Santa's little helpers will hand out 1,000 golden tickets to children in Golden Square Shopping Centre.

These can then be exchanged for a free gift from toy store the Entertainer, while 10 golden tickets will also be picked at random during the event - the holders of which will be invited on stage to meet Santa Claus.

Golden Square Shopping Centre director Ian Cox said: "Justin was so popular and all of the children loved him when he switched the lights on back in 2015, so we were delighted that he accepted our invitation to do it again this year.

"Dick and Dom have been superstars in children's eyes for several years now, and we are lucky to have them hosting the festivities for us throughout the evening.

"It's going to be such a magical night and we know that all of our guests, including Dick and Dom and Justin, will put on a fabulous show for everyone."
