A VOLUNTEER recruitment festival in the Golden Square was hailed a roaring success.
Led by seven regional youth organisations, the shopping centre was used as a base for recruiting new adult leaders, committee members and instructors.
Several activities were open free of charge to the public, including a rainbow fire engine, jet plane cockpit, and practical first aid demonstrations.
Jeremy Kent, of Cheshire Youth United, was pleased at how well-received the festival, on September 16, was.
He said: “The response from shoppers was brilliant.
“We have secured interest from 20 adults and more than 30 young people, which is a fantastic result, and there may be more that have come to the groups since the event.
“It was delightful to see the young people interacting with each other – socialising, supporting each other’s performance, seeing what the other groups do and generally having fun.”
