A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl can’t stop grinning from ear to ear after a kind-hearted stranger donated cash to replace her stolen bike.

St Ann’s CE Primary School pupil Chantelle Stoker was left without her beloved bicycle during the school holidays after thieves targeted their home on Gough Avenue in Longford on the first day of the summer break.

The blue bike with a pink seat and trims and a female superhero logo was a present to celebrate Chantelle’s birthday earlier this year.

The family spent weeks trying to find the perfect bike at a price they could afford, splashing out £85.

Shortly after the bike was stolen on July 29, her dad Phil Stoker issued a desperate plea for help in the Warrington Guardian to trace those involved and to help return the bike to its rightful owner.

The dad also shared of photograph of his seven-year-old daughter to show callous thieves the innocent victim behind their crime spree.

But while investigations to locate the stolen property are still ongoing, the 35-year-old was inundated with kind offers from strangers to replace the Roxie bike.

Phil, who works as a postman in the town, decided to accept a generous offer of £100 from Mark Struthers, from Radio Stockton Heath.

He said: “We didn’t feel comfortable accepting donations from individuals but we would like to say thank you to everyone who offered to help.

“We decided to accept £100 from Mark, from Energy Studios and Radio Stockton Heath.

“We took the cash to the shop so Chantelle could pick which bike she wanted.

“We had to wait a week so it was fitted to her size but she was overjoyed when we took it home.

“She has not stop smiling.

“It does restore your faith in humanity as so many people wanted to help.”

After learning to cycle without stabilisers earlier in the year, Chantelle has spent countless hours riding her new bike.

Police investigations are ongoing to find the culprits.
