THE leader of Warrington and Halton Green Party will stand in the Chapelford and Old Hall by-election.

Steph Davies, who stood in Warrington South in the 2015 General Election, said she is 'passionate about bringing improvements to the community'.

Ms Davies, a school governor, Brownie leader and environmental campaigner, added: "There are a number of huge issues which may directly affect this area over the next few years – Western Link, the new station and loss of the green belt for housing are just a few.

"I am committed to listening to people and acting on their behalf to get the best outcomes for the ward."

The by-election comes after Faisal Rashid stepped down from his council position after stunning David Mowat to secure the Warrington South seat in the General Election in June.

Around £17,000 will be spent on the by-election, which is likely to take place in early October.
