A WARRINGTON Hospital patient has raised funds to allow the ward she was treated on to buy new ‘state-of-the-art’ equipment as a thank you for the care she received.

Pam Caley had a spell in the hospital on ward A6, which specialises in digestive diseases.

Wanting to repay the hospital for her care, Pam asked friends and family to donate money to go towards new equipment on the ward instead of giving her birthday presents when she turned 65 in March this year.

She said: “I will never be able to repay the staff on ward A6, nor consultant surgeon Barry Taylor and his team for the wonderful care I received.

“They truly are amazing professionals and are a credit to the hospital and the NHS.”

Her family and friends raised £683, while Pam also made a donation – bringing the grand total to £1,477.

The money has been used to fund a new ‘state-of-the-art’ blood pressure monitor for the ward.

Helen Higginson, fundraising manager for Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ Charity, said: “Pam is a truly inspirational person who has been through challenging times and yet only though of how best to repay the wonderful support she received whilst in our care.”
