THE police helicopter was deployed to Warrington this morning to help with the search for two children reported on the street in pyjamas.

The team from National Police Air Service Barton assisted officers on the ground at 5.30am today, Sunday.

A search of nearby parks has now ended but enquiries continue.

Police have since confirmed that officers were called to concerns for the welfare of two children in Lavender Gardens.

The caller reported seeing a boy and a girl, both in their pyjamas, heading towards the town centre without an adult.

Officers attended the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area.

This included support from the police dogs and British Transport Police.

The search was concluded after approximately four hours as officers were unable to find any trace of the children and no children were reported missing in the area.

The helicopter was also called to Burtonwood last night after a crashed motorcycle was discovered at 10pm.

Investigations are ongoing, police have confirmed.
