WARRINGTON Collegiate has been ranked in the top ten colleges for the overall performance of its students.

The Winwick Road organisation came in eighth in the UK's further education and skills national achievement rate tables this month.

Figures revealed the college has an 88.9 per cent achievement rate, meaning it has climbed the table from 136th place in the 2013 to 2014 rankings.

Principal Nichola Newton said: “The college continues to go from strength to strength. This is an excellent achievement and testimony to the hard work of our students and staff.

"A top ten ranking nationally puts us in a very strong position as we prepare to merge with Mid Cheshire College in August."

The organisation was also named best further education college in Cheshire in November 2016.
