THE mum of a 16-year-old girl who was punched in the face in an unprovoked attack in Latchford is now seeking justice for her daughter.

Kimberley Morrison, from Latchford, shared a photograph of her teenage daughter Keelyn covered in blood on social media following the assault on Friday night in the hope of tracing the man involved.

Year 11 pupil Keelyn along with her boyfriend Adam Jones, 16, were walking to a nearby shop at around 10.30pm along Nook Lane and Thelwall Lane when a drunken man lashed out at the unsuspecting couple.

“He went to grab her but her boyfriend stepped in to protect her,” said Kimberley, 36.

“The man then pushed Adam and started strangling and punching him, then punched Keelyn in the face.

“Luckily two women pulled up in a car and called the police.

“He ran away before he could be stopped.

“It’s shocking that a fully-grown man would do this – they are just kids.”

Keelyn was taken to hospital for treatment including stitches to a wound just above her left eye.

Kimberley discovered her daughter had been injured when a short time later a police officer arrived on her doorstep to break the devastating news.

“I was really upset at first. She might be 16 years old but she will always be my little baby girl,” said the mum-of-two, who works with children in after care services.

“She was shaken up.

“This is the last thing she needs as she is in the middle of her GCSEs.”

Investigations are ongoing to trace the man who is believed to be around 6ft with short, messy hair and a tooth missing.

His hair colour is described as either light brown or dark blond.

A number of people have come forward with information to identify the suspect but mum Kimberley is desperate to collect as much evidence as possible to make sure justice is served.

Anyone with information can call Cheshire Police on 101 citing incident number 1135 of May 19 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
