TALENT clearly runs in the family after a schoolgirl and her doting dad stormed through to the next stage of the ITV series Britain’s Got Talent.

Father and daughter duo Faye and and Martin Gregory-Lambert secured four yeses after performing in front of the judges’ panel on Saturday night’s show, singing an operatic duet of The Prayer.

With their families watching from the side of the stage at Blackpool Opera House, Faye, 11, and Martin, 47, were left feeling overwhelmed following a standing ovation from members of the audience

“I don’t normally get nervous when I’m working on my own but because I was with Faye it was a completely different thing,” said Martin, who works full-time as a singer on the pubs and clubs circuit.

“My dad instincts kicked in and I wanted to protect her.

“It was lovely to be on stage with her.

“It was very emotional. It was like a rollercoaster.”

Croft Primary School pupil Faye, who is in the middle of sitting her SATs exams, started singing around 18 months ago but, despite her incredible talent, she has not received any professional training.

“When I heard Faye sing we decided we would both go for an audition as I really wanted the judges to see her,” said Martin, who has been singing for as long as he can remember.

“That was my intention and we have achieved that so I’m absolutely made up.

“She has been singing for around 18 months but with no vocal coaching apart from me giving her a few tips – but I’m hardly a vocal coach.

“We just thought we would try our hand and we have achieved a massive amount.”

Since her TV debut on the popular talent show, Faye’s performance has proven to be a hit with her school friends.

“When I went into school they said well done for Saturday and you were great,” said Faye.

Now Faye and Martin, from Lowton, have to wait until the end of the month to find out if they have secured a spot in the live semi-finals where they will once again hope to impress Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

Britain’s Got Talent continues on ITV at 8pm.
