A WOMAN in her 50s remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital following a reported stabbing in Woolston.

Police were called to a house on Alder Road at 2am yesterday, Sunday, following reports of a ‘serious domestic incident’.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a 28-year-old woman and a woman in her 50s had been seriously injured.

A spokesman for the force said: “A 28-year-old woman and a woman in her 50s were taken to hospital to be treated for multiple puncture wounds.

“The 28-year-old woman is currently in a stable condition and the woman in her 50s is in a critical but stable condition.

“A 31-year-old man is also in hospital and is currently in a stable condition.”

A cordon is currently in place on Alder Road while officers investigate the circumstances.

There have been no arrests at this stage.

Police have confirmed that the attack is being treated as an isolated incident and officers are not looking for anyone else as part of their investigation.

One neighbour, who has asked to remain anonymous, said: "I heard the sirens first. I was asleep.

"Then I looked outside my front window and saw at least three police cars ast first. 

"I've not heard of any trouble like this before."
