A KNIFE was found dumped in the grounds of a church on Bewsey Street by a Good Samaritan.
The volunteer made the discovery while tidying up the area surrounding St Alban's RC Church on April 12.
Police have confirmed officers were alerted to the discovery at 12.35pm.
Detective inspector Karen Jaundrill, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “Officers take knife crime very seriously and in this particular case, which is an isolated incident, we have not identified that the knife is linked to any particular offence.
“My advice to members of the pubic who find any form of weapon would be not to touch it, but to report it to the police either in person or over the phone.”
