LANE closures will be in place over the next five days as part of the multi-million pound improvement scheme at junction eight on the M62.

The closures are planned for Burtonwood Road southbound and there will also be temporary traffic lights in operation on Charon Way.

The traffic management measures will be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm today, Monday, until Friday.

There will also be closures in place overnight this evening.

The hard shoulder and lane one of the M62 westbound and lane one on Burtonwood Road southbound will be closed between 8pm and 6am.

Lane three and four of the M62 westbound, lane four of the M62 eastbound and lane one on Burtonwood Road southbound will be closed between 8pm and 6am tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Junction eight in Burtonwood – one of the 'most heavily used and important access points' into west Warrington – was earmarked for work due to often being at capacity and having 'little scope to accommodate predicted increases' in traffic.

The improvement scheme was developed to reduce existing levels of congestion and increase the junction's capacity to support future growth in jobs and houses.
