SUNFLOWERS will decorate the lawn in front of the town hall this spring as part of a colourful campaign for St Rocco’s Hospice.

The charity is inviting people to dedicate a flower to a loved one in return for a donation towards their work.

For volunteer Margaret Wilkinson, who helps out in the hospice gardens and at the shop on Lovely Lane, sunflowers have special meaning.

She said: “I love sunflowers and so did my daughter, Johanne.
“When Johanne was ill we both benefitted enormously from visiting St Rocco’s for complementary therapy sessions. It gave us both the time and space to come terms with things in a supportive environment where people understood what was happening.

“St Rocco’s has lots to offer both patients and their families to help to get the most out of every day.

“It’s now just over six years since we lost Johanne, but sunflowers still play such an important part in our lives – we grow them every year to remind us of her.

“In fact, I have only just sown my seeds for this summer.”

The flowers will begin to appear at the town hall from then end of May and to dedicate your sunflower visit stroccos.org.uk or call 575780.
