THOUSANDS of people have signed a petition calling for politicians to reconsider the new school funding formula.
And the highest number of signatures so far come from Warrington residents, with 1,788 people in the town putting their names to the petition.
Warrington is already among the 10 worst funded areas of the country for education and the new plans mean schools will receive £4,306 per pupil in comparison to schools in top-funded areas, which will be given an average of £6,775 – a difference of £2,469 for every single student.
Head teachers across the town wrote to parents this week asking them to support the campaign for fairer school funding.
The new formula is due to be introduced in April 2018.
