HE'S a baby antelope so tiny that his weight doesn't even register on the scales.

But this little Kirk's dik-dik, named Thanos, was left orphaned after his mum died soon after giving birth.

Keepers at Chester Zoo have stepped in to care for the adorable little chap, who is now 19cm tall and must be fed five times a day to help him grow.

Assistant team manager Kim Wood said: “The youngster is beginning to find his feet now and is really starting to hold his own.

"He is doing ever so well and is getting stronger by the day. We’re hopeful that, in a few months’ time, we’ll be able to introduce him to some of the other members of our group of dik-diks.

“He may be tiny but he is certainly making a big impression on everyone at the zoo.”

The species is named after the sound they make when threatened and when Thanos has grown up, he should reach the full adult height of just 40cm tall.

These tiny antelopes aldo take their name from Sir John Kirk, a 19th century Scottish naturalist, and are native to north east Africa.
