TWO prison staff workers are set to receive the royal seal of approval for their work at HMP and YOI Thorn Cross.
Thomas Lowton and Kellie Morrissy have been recognised for their 'outstanding' work after helping to transform the lives of prisoners through learning and skills.
The pair, who work as offender learning staff at a not-for-profit social enterprise Novus, will celebrate their achievements at St James's Palace on March 9.
Peter Cox, managing director of Novus, said: "Thomas and Kellie deserve their joint-commendation as they led the Thorn Cross team to achieve not only the highest success rates in functional skills English and maths level two across the north west
"But also to becoming the first north west Novus department to achieve an outstanding grade one with Ofsted and HM Inspectorate of Prisons (HMIP)."
