WARRINGTON'S Mayor has been quizzed over the best dressed, funniest and friendliest councillors at the Town Hall.

Cllr Faisal Rashid (LAB – Chapelford and Old Hall) was asked to dish the dirt on his colleagues during the interview in his parlour.

He remained coy when challenged to reveal all but did drop a few names after being asked who sports the best attire in the chamber.

He said: "Thank you very much for a very difficult question – I am sure you want me to be in big trouble at the council.

"I would say all of them are very well dressed.

"If you want me to point out a few of them I would say Cllr Tony Higgins is very well dressed – he is always in a very nice suit.

"Cllr Dan Price is always wearing nice, smart-casual clothing too."

Cllr Rashid was also pressed on the biggest jokers and friendliest figures at the Town Hall, as well as the most rewarding aspect of the job.

He added: "The councillors are all doing a very serious role and I would not say they are jokers.

"They are aiming to make a difference in their own capacity and in a way which they believe in.

"There are a number of things we, as councillors, want to do.

"Because of the funding cuts imposed by central Government on councils it is very frustrating as we can't do some of the things for residents that they have elected us to do.

"It is very frustrating when we can't do the things we want to do for residents.

"I am trying to make a difference for the people I represent as a councillor and mayor. I work until the moment I go to bed.

"With being a proactive mayor and someone who is starting initiatives to help the community it is important to lead on them, especially because of funding cuts, as there is less support available.

"Getting thanked and praised by residents is the most rewarding thing for me.

"I work closely with a lot of figures on the council. I was working closely with Will Hughes, we got on well.

"I actually remember one time when me and Will were campaigning a dog bit him.

"Now me, Cllr Rebecca Knowles and Cllr Steve Parish speak with each other almost every day regarding issues in the ward and get on very well.

"But I tend to get on with every councillor, even cross-party councillors.

"I believe in mutual respect – I give it out to everyone and expect the same."
