THIS was the scene shortly after a man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash on Winwick Road.
A 41-year-old man from Poulton-with-Fearnhead was detained on Wednesday, December 28, after a car ploughed into a van.
Police allege the suspect became violent after he failed a roadside breath test when officers were called to the scene at 6pm.
A police spokesman said: "On Wednesday, December 28, shortly after 6pm police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Winwick Road.
"Police attended and subsequently arrested and charged a 41-year-old local man with drink driving and possession of a class C drug."
The 41-year-old is set to appear at Halton Magistrates' Court on January 25.
