THE RSPCA in Warrington has launched two ways for residents to give the pets in their care a festive treat.

Kind-hearted animal lovers can take part in a game of 'Not-so Secret Santa' this December as the centre on Slutchers Lane asks for gifts for their animals including food, blankets and toys.

But rather than keeping it a secret, gift-givers have been asked to post pictures of their present online using the hashtag #RSPCASecretSanta and in return will receive a small gift from the charity.

Include a return address in your package to receive a thank you gift.

Alternatively, businesses and residents are being called on to take part in a reverse advent calendar to help the cause.

Throughout December, add one item each day to a cardboard box.

Boxes can include toys, blankets, coats, treats, food, leads, collars, harnesses, bowls and donations.

Then post or drop off the box on December 23 in time for animals in need to enjoy on Christmas Day.

The centre on Slutchers Lane is a cruelty case boarding centre caring for neglected or abused animals which have been removed from homes by RSPCA inspectors.

The address for both campaigns is RSPCA Warrington, Halton and St Helens, Slutchers Lane, Warrington, WA1 1NA.
