A SUSPECT in an attempted murder investigation was detained in Warrington town centre on Sunday.
Shortly before 9.10am, police attended a property on Mersey Street after concerns were raised about the welfare of a woman inside the premises.
When officers arrived they arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to an incident which happened at a property in Cheadle Hulme on September 1.
An attempted murder investigation was launched after a man was attacked with a hammer in his own home.
Police say the 21-year-old victim answered the door at Hall Meadow to be confronted by two men between 6pm and 7pm.
One held the door while the other hit him with a hammer on the head and arm.
