AN excited audience of pupils at Barrow Hall Primary bounced along to music from a talented pop trio who gave students and teachers a live performance of their new single.

Mr Meanor’s track, Think About It, appeals to young people to fight against extremism and was written by band members Marcel Wildy, Jordan Hyams and Jake Kirby in response to the Paris terror attacks last year.

The trio has teamed up with Great Sankey charity, the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, which will receive all proceeds from the song.

Marcel, from Los Angeles, said: “We had written the song and we did a search for because we wanted to give the proceeds back and we tried to find the perfect organisation that could spread the message of the song.”

Mr Meanor launched a tour of schools across the north west with visits to Bridgewater High and Barrow Hall Primary, where they chatted to pupils about taking care of your friends and staying positive.

Jordan said: “It’s a good experience, it’s good to let them know the message from such a young age. To go into schools lets us know we’re making a difference for them.

“It’s the easiest song we’ve ever written, we wrote it in about 15 or 20 minutes. After seeing what happened on TV we just sat there and it rolled off the tongue. It’s about real emotions.”

Marcel said the response so far has been positive: “It’s been amazing, everybody seems to really like the song and its message.”

Wendy Parry, co-founder of the Foundation for Peace, watched the performance alongside her grandchildren and said she was pleased the band asked to work with the charity.

“We are really grateful to the boys for thinking about the foundation,” she said.

“The fact that they wanted to come and promote the record in the north west is great, we couldn’t ask for anything more.

“I think the band will appeal to young people. Music and sport are some of the main things young people seem to be drawn to so for these boys to be helping us is very kind.”

The song, written and produced by the trio, is a catchy urban tune which had pupils swaying in their seats.

Think About It's lyrics aim to help young people think about the wider world and the difference they can make to their own communities.

The band are lively and engaging performers who had students on their feet.
