THE stars of Hollyoaks will square up to a team from Appleton-based company Flextronics for a charity football match.

Actors from the Chester-based soap will go head-to-head against the Flex Warrington team, which will have a helping hand from a few sports stars of their own.

Former Everton footballer Graham Stuart, Blackburn and Scotland Captain Colin Hendry and Warrington Wolves’ star Lee Briers will play for Flex and Premier League veteran Mark Halsey will referee the match.

The game has been organised by Hollyoaks’ longest serving cast member Nick Pickard, who plays Tony Hutchinson, and Flex MRO buyer Joe Hitchmough to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Joe said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Claire House Children’s Hospice as the services it provides are extremely valuable to our local community.

“We wanted to raise funds in an entertaining and fun way, and came up with the idea of a celebrity charity football match. Naturally we have some huge Hollyoaks fans locally, so we expect a great turn out for the match.”

Kick-off is at 7pm at Victoria Park in Latchford and Wire FM’s Dominic Walker will be following the match from the commentary box.

Golborne Brass Band will introduce the teams and Wigan Supreme Starlight Cheerleaders will entertain the crowd with a half-time performance.

Warrington Wolves’ Wolfie will also greet the crowd and tickets will be drawn for raffle with prizes including a signed Everton shirt, Soccer AM and Go Carting tickets and a Liverpool Shirt.

Tickets to the event on September 29 cost £2.50 per child, £5 per adult and £14 for a family and can be brought by calling 260870.
