IT may be the world’s highest commercial bungy jump at 233m but former Winwick Primary School pupil Ariane Sallis put her fears to one side in memory of Viola Beach and band manager Craig Tarry.

The 22-year-old, who worked with some of the band member at The Lounge on Springfield Street, jumped from Macau Tower in China to raise funds for The Viola Beach and Craig Tarry Memorial Fund.

Warrington Guardian:

This was the first time Ariane, who now lives in Hong Kong where she works as a lead vocalist for Disney, had braved a bungy jump.

The former Warrington Collegiate student, who went on to study at London College of Music, said: “On February 13, I suddenly lost some very close friends in a car accident in Sweden.

“They were all incredible musicians and members of up-and-coming band Viola Beach.

"I was devastated to hear of the sad loss of my friends.

“It came as such a shock to all of their friends and family but the support has been overwhelming.

“So I have done something the boys would be pretty proud of me for.”

The bungy jump, which holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s highest comercial bungy Jump, is an eye-watering 764ft in height.

So far, Ariane has raised almost £700 for the cause which is close to her heart.

River Reeves, 19, Kris Leonard, 20, Tomas Lowe, 27 and Jack Dakin, 19 and their manager Craig Tarry, 32, died following a crash in Sweden on February 13.

The five friends were coming back from their first international gig when the tragedy unfolded.

The money will be used to commission a permanent memorial in the town to mark the band's and their manager's legacy.

The deadline for donations closes on October 31.
