HUNDREDS of bikers from all over the country paid their respects to a popular Lymm teen with a minute’s revs at his funeral.

Motorbike fan Jamie Havern, 18, died on August 29 after battling motor neuron disease.

His mum, Susie Murrell, posted an appeal on Facebook asking bikers to escort her son’s coffin to the funeral and the post was shared more than 7,000 times with hundreds of motorbikes turning up to pay tribute.

Susie said: “I have never seen anything like it in my life. I’m still overwhelmed, it was absolutely amazing.

“People came from all over the country, they gave up a day’s wages for Jamie and some even stayed in hotels the night before.

“We all did Jamie proud that day and for that I will be forever grateful.”

The motorbikes and cars, including a Lamborghini with the number plate changed to Jamie’s name, led the family to Altrincham Crematorium for the service.

Jamie’s coffin was carried by his brother Corey, cousin Jordan Jackson, his stepfather and uncles.

Susie said Jamie loved music and some of his favourite songs were played at the service including Runaway by Galantis, The Girl is Mine by 99 Souls and Off The Rip by French Montana.

She said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all the bikers, to Tracy and Tim Carmichael-Ridgers who arranged it and to the really kind Boothe family.

“Jamie’s funeral escort was on the telly too, he would have been looking down and saying ‘woah’.

Warrington Guardian:

“I hope this creates more awareness for MND and I will keep fundraising. I just want to help sort something out for anyone else who is going through this.

“It’s the little things that you miss, like the sound of Jamie’s voice after he lost his speech.”

A fundraising page has been set up in Jamie’s memory at gofundme.com/2mshq6k.
