Singers, dancers and even sign language experts queued up for their chance to audition for this year’s Britain’s Got Talent in the town centre today, Thursday.

The show’s team invited performers to take part in open auditions at Golden Square to be in with a chance of securing a place at one of the judges’ auditions next year.

One of the most unusual acts in the running was the band, Solar Flame, who described themselves as aliens from the planet ‘Keplar’.

Nexi Neutrino, who described herself as 1,400 years old, which is apparently 15 in earth years, said: “We have been a band for 18 months, ever since we landed on planet earth.”

Alongside her bandmate, 13-year-old Astraya Estel, she played a mash up of Katy Perry, Robbie Williams and Beyonce, as well as a selection of their own songs.

Seven-year-old Birchwood Primary School pupil, Rohan Sarupani, was also waiting in line to give a performance of One Direction songs.

He said: “I’m a little bit nervous but I have been watching YouTube videos to get ready.”

Mum-of-two Laura Callaghan, 35, had also been practicing for her sign language performance of Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

She said: “I’m supporting deaf awareness – it took me six years to learn, it’s a different language.

“I just wanted to take part to support deaf people but it’s also quite exciting.”

The hopeful entrants will now have to wait to hear back if they have made it through to the next stage of the competition.

If you missed out on the auditions at Golden Square there is still time to enter the competition by visiting itv.com/talent.
