A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a crash in Birchwood.

Emergency services were called to Woolston Grange Avenue at 5.40pm yesterday, Thursday, where a 31-year-old man from Warrington was pronounced dead the scene.

The crash happened between Kingsland Grange and Harpers Road involving a white Ford Focus and a green Kawasaki motorcycle.

The victim's next of kin have been informed of the incident although formal identification has yet to take place.

A 30-year-old man from Leigh has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Investigating officer Neil Farnworth said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of our investigation we’re keen to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen this collision.

“I’d also like to speak to anyone who was believes that they may have seen either of the vehicles travelling in the local area prior to the collision taking place.”
