A RECYCLING team is asking residents to donate their unwanted furniture and household items to charities to help people revamp their homes and raise money for charity at the same time.

Warrington Borough Council is launching the Furniture Re-Use Forum to encourage residents to donate their ‘pre loved’ items.

The scheme will also prevent high quality furniture from being sent to landfill and help new homeowners fit out their rooms with tables, chairs and bookcases they may not usually be able to afford.

St Rocco’s Furniture Project, Walton Lea Partnership, RRRRe-Vamp, Changing Lives in Warrington, Warrington Disability Partnership, Relate At Home and Warrington Money Box have already joined the scheme.

Cllr Judith Guthrie, executive board member for environment and public protection, said: “We encourage residents to both donate furniture and to buy re-used furniture, as it saves items from being wasted and helps people throughout the borough.

“The furniture re-use forum in Warrington is growing from strength to strength and is looking for more charities and community organisations to join.

“The forum provides us with a strong network of organisations invested in communicating why recycling is important, which will benefit the local community and help to improve the borough’s recycling rate.”
