TREKKERS, tigers and toys were among those who descended on Thelwall when the annual Rose Queen procession returned to the village this weekend.

Visitors and organisers pulled out all the stops to make sure this year's event went without a hitch.

Held on the third Saturday in June, the Rose Queen and her court descended on the parish hall to kick start the procession along with members from community and church groups, nurseries and schools and the Thelwall Morris Men.

Things that begin with the letter 'T' was this year's theme with a string of flamboyant floats and fancy dress on show.

Eleven-year-old Erin Broadhurst blossomed as this year's Rose Queen along with her six attendants and crown bearer Liam Hanson.

While the sun failed to make an appearance, the weather remained dry for the procession before visitors enjoyed fairground rides and checked out a number of stalls serving eats and treats.
