ON behalf of Warrington South Labour Party, I would like to thank all those people in the constituency who made the effort to vote in the local elections on May 5, and especially those who voted Labour.

Locally voters showed great confidence in our Warrington Labour team and gave Labour a bigger majority at the Town Hall.

In this constituency we had a net gain of one borough seat and a record number of Labour parish councillors.

I was proud to be elected to Stockton Heath Parish Council to serve my home neighbourhood.

This constituency also gave a huge boost to Warrington’s David Keane in his successful bid to become Labour’s police and crime commissioner for Cheshire.

Despite massive cuts from the Tory government and chaos in the NHS, your Labour council will continue to do its best to protect the most vulnerable, to build strong communities and to boost the regeneration of our town.

It is Labour that is transforming Omega, the Stadium Quarter, Bridge Street and Time Square, with a new market coming.

Labour is also exploring a bid for Warrington to become Britain’s ‘Capital of Culture’.

We must also carefully examine the devolution deal on offer to Cheshire and Warrington from Government.

Finally, this town faces a huge decision on June 23 with the EU Referendum.

Labour strongly believes that jobs and investment in Warrington, as well as vital employee rights, depend on Britain remaining in Europe.

We urge all Labour supporters to vote ‘Remain’.
