FURTHER warning have been issued after child was injured by a discarded needle in a park’s play area in Oakwood earlier this month.

Warrington council’s public health team is providing advice for parents and carers following the recent incident.

If anyone is accidentally cut or injured from a discarded needle the advice is to bleed the wound by applying pressure, making more blood come out, wash it and then attend A&E as soon as possible.

Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, executive board member for public health and wellbeing, said: “This was an isolated incident, it is not something which happens frequently and although serious and worrying it is thankfully rare.

"However, if anyone was to receive a cut from a discarded needle it is important to know how to deal with the situation.”
