DAVID Mowat is confident there will be a 'significant' turnout increase for the EU referendum in comparison to the borough council election.
Overall turnout at the all-out election on May 5 reached 33 per cent.
But Warrington South MP Mr Mowat is urging all sections of the electorate to get involved in the June 23 decision.
He said: "I think turnout will increase significantly for the referendum because I think voters understand the importance of the choice they are being asked to make.
"Whether the UK votes to leave or remain, the question will be settled for a generation. There will be no going back.
"I hope that everyone exercises their right to vote because, whichever side of the argument you are on, this is a decision which is going to shape the future of our nation for decades to come."
