A CCTV recording has been published after a gang targeted cars in Penketh and Great Sankey overnight.

A Warrington resident has released the footage which was recorded outside a house on Hamble Drive in Penketh at 12.30am this morning.

He said: "I think they were trying to get access into unlocked or easy target cars. 

"They tried all ours but as they were locked they just moved on."

Police have confirmed that they have received 10 reports of cars being broken into in Great Sankey and Penketh.

Warton Close in Penketh and Cromdale Way in Great Sankey have been identified as hotspot areas.

Sgt Gordon Jack has issued a warning to residents following the series of thefts. 

He said: "We would urge people to keep their cars and vans locked at all times and valuables not just out of sight but in a secure place.”
