WORK on the new market car park is expected to begin imminently after the appointment of a contractor – with a completion date set for October 2017.

Warrington Borough Council has appointed Winwick-based I&H Brown for the new 1,150-space multi-storey car park that will serve the £107m Bridge Street regeneration project.

Completion is anticipated in October 2017 with demolition work on the current market expected to begin shortly.

Nigel Taylor, managing director of I&H Brown in England and Wales, said: “We are pleased to be associated with this prestigious project in our home town of Warrington.

“We are Warrington-based, employing localised supply chain and employees and retaining the public pound within the Warrington realm.

“We relish the journey to deliver this project for Warrington and Co and are delighted to be the first to make a start for the Time Square regeneration scheme.”

Council leader Cllr Terry O’ Neill added: “The construction of the new multi-storey car parking facility will assist in supporting not only the Time Square regeneration scheme but also the whole town centre.

“The delivery of this important facility demonstrates Warrington Borough Council’s commitment to continue to provide a high standard of town centre amenities.”
