CHILDREN whose parents have been killed got the chance to see some of their idols in action at Anfield on Saturday thanks to a donation from Barclays.

Twenty youngsters and adults were treated to the clash between Liverpool and Newcastle after kindly receiving tickets from the Golden Square bank.

Barclays supports the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund – a charity which was established three years ago following the double murder of PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone in Greater Manchester.

It helps kids who have lost family through violent crime, as well as those affected by traumatic domestic violence, and gives them the platform to 'rebuild' their lives by offering a range of opportunities including apprenticeships.

Children enjoyed the Premier League encounter, which finished 2-2, and Liverpool FC also arranged for a museum tour to take place.

Youngsters are nominated for help and support through a family liaison officer.

On June 11 the charity will host its third charity ball at Old Trafford.

Any businesses from the town interested in offering their support are urged to get in touch with the organisation.
