TWO thousands runners have signed up for this year's English Half Marathon in Warrington.

Taking place on September 16, organisers say the interest shows they are shaping up for another sell-out.

The 2015 race weekend also incorporated the EHM10K and family mile event.

After six years of starting and finishing at Warrington’s Victoria Park, last year’s races started and finished at the iconic Golden Gates of Warrington Town Hall with new town centre race sections introduced.

These new additions were a firm favourite with runners, and have been kept for 2016.

Rob Griffiths, race director said “Last year’s race was a great success on many of levels. Runners really loved the new start and finish location, along with town centre sections of the course.

"Contest Sports has once again shown we can deliver a world-class running event in the town. Our event is continuing to grow and we are thrilled to be back in Warrington in 2016 for another year.”

The new routes for the Half Marathon and 10k, which was well received by runners, give a generally flat course with a couple of rises and dips for added interest.

The one mile family fun run starts at 12:45pm, allowing participants to run two distances if desired.
