Old Hall worker set for stage

A FORMER Gulliver's World worker is getting reader to swap her gowns and crowns for circus clowns as she gets set to perform in the Big Top.

Former Miss Cheshire Catriona Cameron will soon join the Giffords Circus at their base in Gloucestershire for rehearsals ahead of their Painted Wagon summer tour.

The former beauty queen said: "One of my earliest memories as a little girl is making my parents hold either end of a curtain pole, whilst I dressed up in my favourite polka dot swimsuit and performed a daring tight-rope walk.

"I even made my mother do the ringmasters commentary while my father sang the traditional circus theme.

"My parents realised then that they should probably send me to dance classes, and I remember hoping that one day I'd perform in a real circus."

Sign up to Futsal competition

MORE than 200 children are expected to take part in the biggest indoor event of youth Futsal in Warrington next month.

The Futsal competition, which is the only small sided game endorsed by FIFA, UEFA and The FA, will be held at St Gregory's High School on Cromwell Avenue on May 7 and 8.

The Warrington Youth Futsal Championships has already received support from the F.A.’s head of futsal youth coach development, Ian Bateman.

He said: "I am sure it will be a huge success.

"Futsal continues to grow in England and many clubs are now seeing it’s benefits, either as a development tool for football or an exciting game in its own right.”
