A DRAMA teacher is set to appear on national television dressed in tight lycra sliding down a gunge-covered hill tonight.

Dan Costello, a freelance drama teacher from Latchford, will appear on the Almost Impossible Game Show tonight.

The ITV2 gameshow will see him take on Total Wipeout-style challenges – including running on a treadmill at high-speed while attempting to put on a pair of trousers, sliding down a gunge-covered hill while remaining standing and scrambling around looking for a pin while blindfolded to pop a balloon attached to his head.

Warrington Guardian:

The 29-year-old, who teaches at schools in Warrington and Manchester, said: “I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I turned up, I just applied to it knowing it was a game show like Total Wipeout and is done by the same company.

“There was a series of challenges but I didn’t realise how difficult and tough they were going to be and they were a bit crazy.

“It was amazing and really fun.

Warrington Guardian:

“I’ve probably made a complete fool of myself and made myself look like an idiot on TV – my friends are aware but they’re aware that I’m an idiot in general.

“I’ve told my older students that I’m going on but I don’t really want the younger ones to see it.

“I’m sure they will find it funny though and I’m quite excited to see how it looks on TV.”

Warrington Guardian:

Comedy duo the Rubberbandits provide commentary on the action, and they tipped the Almost Impossible Game Show, which is now in its second series, for a Turner Prize.

They said: “The Almost Impossible Game Show is a probing exegesis of the human condition which challenges traditional boundaries of societal interaction vie the combined mediums of lycra and falling downing.

“We have no doubt that it will be shortlisted for a Turner Prize as a BAFTA is not an appropriate mantle of endowment for this work of vital art.”

Tune in at 10pm tonight to see how Dan gets on, and check out our video above for a sneak preview.
