THE BEST and worst GP surgeries in Warrington have been revealed.

Warrington’s best and worst ranked surgeries have been named in the results a new patient satisfaction survey.

The GP Patient Survey has rated Springfields Medical Centre as the top surgery in town with a 96 per cent happiness rating, while Stockton Heath Medical Centre came bottom of the table with a rating of just 61 per cent.

Collectively, 83 per cent of residents rated Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group’s surgeries as good – slightly below the national rate of 85 per cent.

The England-wide survey provides practice-level data about patient experiences of their GP practices, measuring their experiences of waiting times, care quality, opening times, making appointments and out of hours services.

A total of 2,817 people took part in the survey in Warrington, and across the town 35 per cent of people said they had to wait too long to be seen – just 35 per cent of patients at the Forge-based Stockton Heath Medical Centre and 39 per cent at Dallam Medical Centre on Dallam Lane said they didn’t have to wait too long.

An encouraging 94 per cent of residents had confidence and trust in their GP, with Folly Lane Medical Centre in Dallam and Springfield Medical Centre on Legh Street scoring full marks – Helsby Street Medical Centre also scored highly with 99 per cent.

Residents’ confidence and trust in nurses wasn’t as positive, with 85 per cent satisfied with them – Fairfield Surgery on Manchester Road scored only 65 per cent and Padgate Medical Centre on Station Road South received 67 per cent.

Only 68 per cent of residents had a good experience of making an appointment with their doctor, with the worst performers in this category Stockton Heath Medical Centre at 42 per cent and Penketh Health Centre at 49 per cent.

Just 59 per cent said it was easy to get through to their surgery by phone, with Stockton Heath Medical Centre performing badly again with a rating of 22 per cent – Penketh Health Centre on Honiton Way scored 29 per cent.

Overall, 68 per cent of resident were satisfied with their surgeries opening hours and 69 per cent said their experience of out-of-hours services was good.

Meanwhile, 52 per cent of residents didn’t know what online services GP offered.
