WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has hit out at the council's new chief executive saying she shows "disrespect" to the people in the north of the town.

And she has threatened to take up the matter at the House of Commons if she fails to get some answers to her questions.

She says Diana Terris, newly appointed chief executive, often sends "dismissive and unsatisfactory" responses.

She added: "On some occasions, I get no response at all. It is simply not good enough and shows disrespect and contempt for the people I represent.

"I have asked for a commitment that street cleaning will be satisfactorily maintained. No response.

"Our chief executive seems to have gone missing. The council seem to think that if they ignore or don't recognise a problem it doesn't exist.

"MPs, acting for their constituents, should expect better than I am experiencing.

"The situation was significantly better under previous chief executives which means either the current one has yet to get her act together or she has received political instruction from the LibDem/Tory administration to be unhelpful. Either way, the situation must change.

"I will be writing to the chief executive outlining my concerns and asking her what actions she will take to remedy the situation."

A council spokesman said: "The comments come as a complete surprise. Diana Terris has previously offered to meet with Ms Jones on a regular basis, as she does with other elected members, but this offer was declined (in favour of ad-hoc meetings when Ms Jones required them).

"The council receives, and responds to, around 45 letters each month from Ms Jones on a wide range of issues. We would be happy to meet with Ms Jones to discuss how we might be better able to work together better."
