A TEAM of specialists who support people affected by strokes, acquired brain injuries and other neurological conditions has been nominated for a distinguished award.

The Warrington-based neurosciences team from Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted in the Best Community Research Contribution category at the National Institute for Health Research Greater Manchester Clinical Research Awards.

The experienced team offers physiotherapy, occupational therapy, specialist nursing and neuropsychology in the community, including in people’s homes.

They have been shortlisted for recruiting stroke patients in the town to take part in two innovative research projects focussed on post-stroke rehabilitation.

Team member Bernadette Mason said: “I am delighted the team has been nominated for this award – they all worked extremely hard to recruit people in Warrington to get involved in the research projects which are so valuable in helping tom improve the long term health and well-being of stroke patients.”

The awards ceremony takes place in Manchester tomorrow night.
