A YOUTH worker is taking to the waterways for an epic journey to Stockton Heath.

Dan Chadwick is about to embark on a 92-mile trip paddling in a canoe in a bid to raise cash for two charities for children.

The 24-year-old, originally from Stockton Heath will set off from Leeds, on May 26 and expects to arrive at London Bridge five days later.

The aim is not only a personal challenge but also to raise funds for Warrington Youth for Christ and Leeds Faith in Schools.

Mr Chadwick's mum, Nina, who lives on Pineways, Appleton, said: "It is a huge challenge but Dan is determined to do it and is spurred on by the charities, one for each of his home towns."

The journey will move through the Pennines, along the Rochdale Canal and finally the Bridgewater Canal.

Mr Chadwick, accompanied by another rower will sleep in tents on riverbanks throughout their challenge.

Mrs Chadwick added: "Its nice that Dan is doing it for the young people he works for and devotes his time to.

"It's going to take a lot of hard work to do it."
