UNSUNG heroes in the town have been recognised for their hard work and determination.

A group of selfless volunteers from Oi Listen were nominated by the council’s Families Information Service (FIS) for both the project of the year and the community impact award at the Warrington Youth Club Youth award ceremony.

The FIS nominated the self-advocacy group, who meet once a week on a Wednesday, in recognition of their contribution to the development and launch of an new website.

Ask Ollie launched to help support families in the town by providing information about children and young people with additional educational needs.

Cllr Jean Carter, executive board member for children’s services, said: “It’s great to see a team of volunteers being praised for the hard work that they do.

"I know our FIS team were very impressed with the young people and said they were a pleasure to work with."

While the group narrowly missed out on winning the awards, Pip Horne, Oi Listen project facilitator, added the nomination was a 'terrific thank you' for their efforts.
