WE may still be waiting for hoverboards, flying cars and self-drying jackets.

But October 2015 was the month Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled to when they jumped forward 30 years in Back to the Future II.

Time has finally caught up with the 1989 film and to celebrate Warrington Market is hosting a Time Travel Convention this Saturday.

Steve Pickering, market manager, said: "October 21, 2015, was the date Marty and Doc travel to in the 'future' but there's massive events on that date so we're getting in a bit early.

"The Back to the Future films were also set in 1985, 1955 and 1885 so we can pull things out of the Warrington Market archives from those dates.

"It's real history for us so it ties in really nicely."

The convention will feature Doc Brown's DeLorean which can go in 'hover mode' and there will be street theatre performances of scenes from the films.

There will also be a model steam train attempting to push a model DeLorean up to 8.8mph – a nod to a scene in the third film.

Other attractions include Arnold Schwarzenegger lookalike and Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, Stu Arnold, performing as the Terminator, Dr Who and the Daleks and the chance to sit on Game of Thrones' Iron Throne.

There will also be talks from 'time travelling historian' Mark Olly and around 50 specialist merchandise stalls including a life-sized models and prosthetics from the Terminator films.

The Time Travel Convention follows on from Warrington Market's Comic Con in May which proved to be a huge hit, attracting an estimated 10,000 visitors.

Steve added: "The purpose of the Comic Con was to prove the market was still open with all redevelopment works taking place in the Bridge Street quarter but it turned out to be our busiest event.

"It's what it should be like and it shows that demand is there when we get it right. It's about creating a buzz and showing people there's life in the market.

"We have fantastic traders and we need to show people what we've got."
