THERE is still time to nominate your unsung heroes in this year's Inspiration Awards.

Due to popular demand, we have decided to extend the deadline for entries to September 6 meaning a teacher, charity champion or anyone else you feel deserves recognition can have their moment in the spotlight.

Courageous Stockton Heath youngster Ted McCaffery was one of last year's 10 award winners collecting the Inspiration Award.

The eight-year-old, who also earned a Pride of Britain award last year, raised more than £1,000 for Alder Hey Children's Hospital to help other poorly children following his open heart surgery in May 2013.

Proud mum Jo added: "We just thought we were there to make up the numbers when Ted said to me 'I think they're talking about me'.

"We were so shocked when his name was called but it was a fantastic night filled with lovely people.

"Dave Thompson (Warrington Disability Partnership) who was also given an award on the night still sends messages to Teddy which shows the community spirit of that night.

"Personally, the Warrington Inspiration Award meant more than the Pride of Britain award as that was the hospital's award that should be for every person who does anything for Alder Hey whereas to be recognised by your local paper is just fab."

Since the award, Ted has continued with his fundraising, helped switch on Christmas lights, gave a speech at an Alder Hey charity ball which raised more than £1m and organised a golf day which raised £50,000.

Following a heart check-up next month after Ted had open heart surgery in 2013, the unstoppable youngster also hopes to complete a one-mile run and a triathlon.

Jo added: "We will have to wait for the check-up before he decides to conquer the world.

"My job is to worry about him while he just enjoys every day."

You can nominate your inspirations in one of 10 categories until September 6.

Just tell us who you are nominating and why that person should win.

Keep your nominations to 100 words or less and include your contact details, and if possible, those of the person you are nominating.
