A YOUNG entrepreneur-in-the-making has called on the public to help turn her picture-perfect idea into a reality.

She may not even have reached double figures yet but nine-year-old Ruby Davies, of Clarence Road, Grappenhall, has come up with an idea to raise funds to transform Euclid Park play area.

The Bradshaw Primary School pupil has big plans to host an open-air cinema event at the park near her home.

The money raised from the film viewing would then be ploughed into improving the play area.

The year four pupil, who wants to be an actress when she grows up, said: “I was in the park with my sister one day and I noticed that there was paint chipping off and the swings were squeaking.

“My dad and I were thinking of ways to raise money and then we came to the decision of an open-air cinema.

“I know lots of my friends would like to come and I think it would be a good idea.”

But Ruby is reliant on generous contributions from members of the community, who may have some of the equipment to loan, as well as a helping hand from the parish council.

Ruby, who counts Annie, Matilda and Finding Nemo among her favourite films, has already provided Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council with a Powerpoint presentation about her plans.

This includes posting flyers through the doors of neighbouring properties to collect their views and any concerns they may have.

She added: “I would be happy to organise all of this with the help of my friends and family as I am keen to improve the playground in the park.”

While no plans have been set in stone, Disney favourite Frozen has been rumoured to be a firm favourite for the first film viewing.

Her mum Sara Davies said: “I’m really proud of her. She always tries to help others first.

“When she gets an idea she goes full steam ahead. She has been looking into what she would need and getting in touch with people to help.”

A spokesman for the the parish council said the idea has been agreed 'in principle' and will be looking at ways to support Ruby.
