CHILDREN and adults named Alice can enjoy free tea, cakes and parking in a fortnight's time at the Golden Square Shopping Centre, as it is celebrates the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s novel.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland being Carroll’s most renowned story, telling the tale of how a young Alice fell through a rabbit hole and into another world.

As Warrington town centre is home to the statue of Alice’s infamous tea party, it is the perfect setting for the celebration.

Ian Cox, the director of the Golden Square, said: “His work is still enjoyed by generations and what better way to celebrate than to offer all Alices their own tea party.”

People with the name Alice can enjoy free cake and tea at the Rhode Island Coffee cafe as well as free parking.

Mr Cox added: “While we can’t promise giant white rabbits, we think tea and cakes in honour of a national treasure will be a fun way of remembering our heritage.”

All Alices are welcome to join the celebration on Saturday, July 4 in the centre of Warrington and enjoy the anniversary and gifts once proof of ID is shown at the Golden Square customer service desk.
