FORMER Culcheth resident Andy Burnham will face a battle against three fellow MPs to determine who becomes the next Labour leader.
The Leigh MP is favourite to take over following Ed Miliband's resignation but will have to fend off stiff competition from Yvette Cooper, Liz Kendall and Jeremy Corbyn after nominations officially closed on Monday.
The new leader will be announced on September 12.
