In the first of a new regular series of columns from Wolves new chief executive Roger Draper, he talks fan surveys, cup final dreams and settling into life in Warrington.

SEVENTY-nine days into the job and I am absolutely loving being in Warrington.

There are a lot of challenges. A lot of things we do well, a lot of things we need to better. I am excited about the future and I think the club is in a brilliant position.

Our job is to have a team performing on the pitch and a stadium that is absolutely rocking and fans that not just have a good matchday experience but a good everyday experience with Warrington Wolves.

At the moment, everyone is talking about the fans survey when you go around town.

One of the big issues is obviously when are we going to play our home games, Thursday nights, Friday nights, Saturday or Sundays.

We have created this big discussion which is taking place.

We have been really pleased with the response and the team organising the survey say it is one of the biggest they have known, which shows how passionate Warrington fans are.

The deadline is Friday and if you haven’t already done so, you have a few days to let your views be aired.

We will be publishing some of the results of the survey over the next weeks and months.

We are going to be pretty open and honest in what the fans are saying. I am hoping there aren’t going to be many surprises.

When I was deciding whether to become chief executive of Warrington Wolves, my two boys were looking on social media and the big thing they found was the Barmy Army at Manchester City and it was a really uplifting experience because there are so many videos of Warrington fans enjoying beating St Helens.

Newcastle is a fantastic city, not just the stadium but the bars and restaurants and all those fans who do go up there for Magic Weekend on May 30/31 will have an absolute blast and hopefully we can put in a great performance against St Helens.

Looking ahead, we are really pleased with the Challenge Cup draw at the end of June.

Leigh are an ambitious club but we aim to put them in their place and show them Super League.

We have spoken to Leigh and their intentions are to fill the West Stand.

We are hoping for a Saturday afternoon and a really good atmosphere.

Super League has taken over but for many fans, the Challenge Cup is in their hearts.
Hopefully we can keep our run of success in the cup going.
